Diane J. Harrison, Esq.

Experience: headshot2013a.jpg

Background:

  • Diane Harrison was born and raised in West Virginia. In 1982, she graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Upon graduation, she went to work for Rockwell International Corporation, in Canoga Park, California, where she was responsible for managing and processing the radioactive, hazardous, and mixed radioactive wastes generated at the Rockwell International Hot Laboratory. In 1989, Rockwell began phasing out its Hot Laboratory operations, so Diane left Rockwell for an engineering position with the U.S. Department of Energy, Yucca Mountain Site Characterization Project Office, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She worked on waste package design, repository design, and systems engineering for the high-level radioactive waste geologic repository being developed 100 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
  • After fifteen (15) years of “interpreting” and “implementing” the law regarding radioactive, hazardous, and mixed radioactive wastes, Diane decided to pursue “practicing” the law. So, she loaded up the truck and moved to St. Pete – Florida that is. In 2000, Diane graduated cum laude from Stetson University College of Law where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Stetson Law Review and was awarded the Cecil C. and Augusta Bailey Award in recognition of her character, academic achievement, and capacity for meritorious leadership in the field of law.
  • She understands operating small business as she is currently part owner of Backflow Acquisition Corp., dba Howz It Flowin Agin, a local busiiness for testing and repairing residential backflow prevention assemblies ("BPAs"). She is also a testing and repair technician, certified by the University of Florida Training, Research and Education for Environmental Occupations ("UF/TREEO").  UF/TREEO's Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Program is the only Florida Section of the American Waterworks Assocation accredited program in the State of Florida.
  • Diane and her husband, Michael, met in Las Vegas in 1992. They now live in Manatee County, Florida, with their "kids" (a Papillon and two mini Yorkies) and enjoy tennis, bowling, and, not surprisingly, playing Texas Hold’em poker.
